Community Ambassador Program - C.A.P.

The Coral Springs Police Department is looking for engaged citizens to serve as ambassadors for the newly formed Community Ambassador Program (CAP).

Citizen distrust in law enforcement has increased nationwide over the last year. To prevent that distrust from becoming prevalent in the Coral Springs community, our police department worked to develop CAP. The mission of the CAP is to engage with ambassadors to build a stronger foundation, develop greater understanding and improve transparency. We recognize the importance of the public and law enforcement to understand varying points while working together to build strong bonds in our community and solve issues.

The Coral Springs Police Department recognizes at times there is a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge about how the public perceives policing, and what the police actually do. Knowledge is power, continually improving is paramount to success and in policing, transparency is key.

The Coral Springs Police Department is forming the CAP to provide a means for citizen ambassadors to learn more about the police department, engage in timely and controversial topics, increase direct interactions with our citizens, review good police work, and examine our use of force incidents.

CAP will be comprised of up to 16 participants, who meet the following criteria:

• Must be a resident or owner of a business operating in the City of Coral Springs.

• Commit so serve as an ambassador for a two-year period.
