City Manager
Mike Levinson is serving in his 15th year as the City Manager of Coral Springs, Florida - the 2007 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's most prestigious award for corporate excellence. Coral Springs is the first corporation in Florida to be honored as a repeat winner of the Governor's Sterling Award for quality and organizational excellence (1997 and 2003) and is also the first-ever recipient of the 'Florida City of Excellence' Award from the Florida League of Cities (2004). Coral Springs has a financial credit rating of AAA from the three rating agencies on Wall Street.
During his professional career, he has served in a number of key executive positions, in both the private sector and public sector. Prior to his tenure with the City of Coral Springs, Mike served as Managing Director of a Dallas-based financial advisory firm, focusing on public/private partnerships. He also served as Assistant Executive Director of Dallas Area Rapid Transit Authority for Real Estate and Development and as Chief Economist and Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Dallas.
Mike attended the Yale University Graduate School of Economics Ph.D. program. He holds M.S. and B.S. degrees with honors in economics and business administration from Southern Connecticut State University and Quinnipiac University, respectively. He has taught and lectured at numerous universities around the country and currently volunteers as a guest lecturer at the Academy for Strategic Management at Florida International University (FIU).
Mike is the first President Emeritus of the Florida Sterling Council. He serves on the City of Coral Springs Firefighters Retirement Board, the Community Chest and Coral Springs Museum of Art (ex officio). He is a member of the Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce Trustee Group and the Coral Springs Council of Executive Officers. He served on the Board of Directors of the Men's Masters Basketball National Championships and the PGA Tour Honda Classic Golf Tournament. He is an Advisory Board member of the Coral Springs Charter School and volunteers as the Financial Advisor to the Coral Springs Economic Development Foundation.
