Captain Hanrahan began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1981. Captain Hanrahan was assigned to Road Patrol until he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Unit in 1982 where he served as a Burglary and Child Abuse Detective. In 1985, Captain Hanrahan was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Throughout his 18 years as Sergeant he supervised a variety of units including the Records, Facilities, Personnel, Internal Affairs, Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Juvenile and Traffic. During this time he also served as the department’s Public Information Officer. In 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and subsequently served as Operations Support Captain. Captain Hanrahan is currently assigned to Patrol as a shift commander.
Captain Hanrahan holds a B.S. degree from Brockport State College in Criminal Justice. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Command Officers Development Course held by Southern Police Institute of Louisville, Kentucky and is an active member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Florida Police Chiefs Association and an Associate member of Police Executive Research Forum.
