Captain McKeldin began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1975 as a Patrol Officer. He served as a Patrol Officer until 1979, at which time he transferred to the Criminal Investigations Unit as an Investigator. Captain McKeldin was promoted to Sergeant in 1981, Lieutenant in 1987 and Captain in 1998. Throughout his supervisory career Captain McKeldin has held assignments in Patrol, Investigations, Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics, Internal Affairs, and Human Resources. He currently supervises the Special Operations Component that includes the Tactical and Gang Unit, K-9 Unit, Bike Unit and Substations.

Captain McKeldin received an A.A. degree from Broward Community College in 1980. Additionally, he was a graduate of the Southern Police Institute in 1995.
