Captain Montagna began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1982. Captain Montagna served as a Patrol Officer until 1984, at which time he transferred to the Youth Liaison Unit where he spent 14 years as a Youth Liaison Officer. In 1997, Captain Montagna was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Throughout his tenure as Sergeant he served in the areas of Patrol, K-9, Field Force, and the Youth Liaison Unit. In 2004, he was promoted to Captain and assigned to Patrol as a Shift Commander. He now serves as Operations Support captain.

Captain Montagna graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice. Additionally he graduated from the Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Program and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Florida Executive Development Program. Currently he is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
