Deputy Chief Montagna began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1982. Deputy Chief Montagna served as a Patrol Officer until 1984, at which time he transferred to the Youth Liaison Unit where he spent 14 years as a Youth Liaison Officer. In 1997, Deputy Chief Montagna was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Throughout his tenure as Sergeant he served in the areas of Patrol, K-9, Field Force, and the Youth Liaison Unit. In 2004, he was promoted to Captain and has overseen Patrol as a Shift Commander, Operations Support, and Criminal Investigations. In 2010, he was promoted to Deputy Chief overseeing the Administration Division.
Deputy Chief Montagna graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice. Additionally, he graduated from the Criminal Justice Executive Leadership Program, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Florida Executive Development Program, and the National F.B.I. Academy, Class #237. Currently he is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Florida Police Chiefs Association, and the Broward County Chiefs of Police Association.
