Detective Nick Iarriccio – Distinguished Service Award
Detective Iarriccio began his career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1988. He currently serves as the department’s task force officer assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). Throughout his 25 year career Detective Iarriccio has served in a multitude of assignments where his contributions and achievements led to the growth and success of the Coral Springs Police Department and the City of Coral Springs. Officer Michelle Kull – Community Involvement Commendation
Officer Kull has served as a member of the RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Team since December of 2011. Understanding the importance of the RAD program and how it impacts our community, Officer Kull recognized that the program needed to develop further and expose the public to the realities of what RAD teaches. On September 4th, while driving an unmarked vehicle on a heavily traveled portion of Sample Road, The Detectives observed a 75-year old woman deliberately roll her wheelchair into oncoming traffic in an attempt to commit suicide. More...
Undercover V.I.N. Detective - Lifesaving Commendation
While off-duty and working out at the LA Fitness, our Detective observed several gym employees running in a panicked fashion towards the swimming pool. The Detective followed the employees and observed two employees trying to lift an unconscious 24-year old male from the pool. More...

Traffic Accident Investigator Quinton McGirt - Exceptional Support Initiative
On August 5th a citizen observer reported that they witnessed an elderly woman get robbed while she was walking down the street. The citizen observer provided dispatch with a thorough description of the suspected assailant and his get-away vehicle. He attempted to follow the vehicle but quickly lost sight of it. More...

These department members are being recognized for their outstanding contribution as members of the Sergeant’s Exam Committee. Under the direction of Deputy Chief Montagna the Committee met on several occasions to collaborate on enhancing the existing testing procedure and implementing new aspects that would offer greater transparency for test takers and provide more factual information for Chief Pustizzi to consider when selecting candidates for promotion. In January of 2013 Officer Deluca responded to a possible residential burglary where server pieces of jewelry were missing but there was no sign of forced entry. Officer Christian Crawford – Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation
While off-duty and in his personal vehicle, Officer Crawford observed a vehicle which he believed he saw in a BOLO issued by Lighthouse Point Police Department in reference to a “Sovereign Citizen”. The BOLO indicated that the suspect had outstanding charges and was known to carry a 9MM pistol mounted under the vehicle steering column. More...

On May 22nd, The Detective was assigned by the VIN Sergeant to conduct overnight surveillance on a drug supplier’s residence in which a search warrant was going to be executed at the following day. While on Patrol June 21st, Officer Carvalho was flagged down by a crying juvenile female. She informed Officer Carvalho that a subject known to her as “Steve” had stolen her I-Phone and run away. She was also able to provide a description as well as a direction of travel for the suspect. More...

On June 23rd Officer Greear responded to a report of burglary at a local apartment complex where a suspect was attempting to make entry into the coin hopper of the laundry room washing machines. Officer Thomas Faiola – Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation
On March 9th a residential burglary occurred in which three cell phones and a laptop computer was stolen. On March 11th, Officer Faiola contacted a street informant that revealed a male by the name of “Sam” in her neighborhood by was attempting to sell cellular phones. Contact was made with the suspect and the suspect admitted to committing the burglary with an additional individual by the name of “Tom”. More...
Officer Chad Whittington – Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation
Upon arriving at work on April 28th Officer Whittington began to read the ‘Hot Sheet’ to review incidents that occurred while he was off the preceding day. He quickly noticed that the description of a suspect identified as possibly committing a burglary, petty theft and grand theft auto at a local restaurant exactly matched the description of a subject he had encountered and completed a Field Interview with on his last work shift. Cindy Heafy – Distinguished Service Award
Cindy began her career with the Coral Springs Police Department in 1979 as a Dispatcher. At that time Cindy would work most shifts with just herself, a single supervisor and ONE officer on Road Patrol. For a brief period of time Cindy also worked as a Traffic Accident Investigator but quickly returned to Dispatch as a Supervisor. More...
