The City of Coral Springs is encouraging all residents to participate in the 2010 Census. The population totals from this Census will determine the number of seats each state has in the House of Representatives and how annual federal funding is distributed to each community. Census information is also used for important initiatives including planning schools, building roads, providing recreational services and managing health care services.

All residents should be aware of the Census schedule so they can plan to respond by the mandated deadline. The Census questionnaire will be mailed out in March 2010 and residents are asked to return the completed form by April 12, 2010. If you have not returned your questionnaire by that date, a Census taker may follow-up by visiting homes throughout the community. Census takers will be carrying a Department of Commerce red, white and blue badge stating they are a "Census Enumerator." The badge will have their name and expiration date. Census takers will not enter your home nor will they ask for Social Security numbers, I.D. card numbers, driver's license or pin numbers.

Residents should know that the form is short and all answers remain confidential. No legal action will be taken against undocumented aliens.

Representatives from each of the 31 municipalities in Broward County serve on subcommittees for the Complete Count Committee.

“Broward County’s Complete Count Committee is a work in progress, and is always willing to utilize the skills of anyone that is willing to assist us in our goal,” Broward County Vice Mayor Ken Keechl said.
