Mayor Roy Gold

Roy GoldNow in his second year as Mayor of Coral Springs, a diverse community of more than 121,000 and the first and only local government to receive the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, Roy Gold has been a Coral Springs' activist since the early 1990's.

Mayor Gold has been a community advocate for many years, both as an elected official and a private citizen. Gold was elected to his first term as Commissioner in March 2004, and reelected in 2008. He was appointed Vice Mayor in March 2006 though November 2007.

During his tenure, Mayor Gold has served as a public servant in a variety of areas focused on education, the environment, and financial stability. He serves in a leadership capacity for numerous groups including the Coral Springs Principal Education Advisory (2004-Present), the Coral Springs Neighborhood and Environmental Committee (1994-Present); Coral Springs Historical Advisory Committee (2000-Present); Coral Springs Charter School, Board of Directors, (2004-Present); and the Coral Springs Museum of Art, Board of Directors, Ex-Officio Member (2004-present).

Mayor Gold, a long-time environmental activist, brought a Broward County Waterway Cleanup Site to Coral Springs 16 years ago. Since then the site has consistently been one of the largest in the county in terms of volunteer power. Gold also founded the Adopt-A-Mile program in Coral Springs in 1990 and has served as the site leader for Broward County Adopt-A-Street since 2002.

His interest in education also led him to bring to fruition the Teen Political Forum in 2007. At this annual event, students are able to ask questions of their elected officials, helping bridge the gap between students and government.

Mayor Gold is also committed to assisting the County, the State of Florida, and the National League of Cities' efforts toward bettering all forms of government. Mayor Gold serves as the Chair of the National League of Cities' Leadership Training Council and is a member of the Florida League of Cities' Board of Directors. He has served on a large number of committees, including Broward County Management and Efficiency Study Committee, Broward County Metropolitan Planning Council, Broward County Water Advisory Board, and Broward Beautiful. Mayor Gold recently had the honor of receiving an invitation to visit the White House. The Obama Administration was interested in discussing a number of significant topics such as the American Jobs Act, transportation, infrastructure improvements, and immigration with our nation's appointed and elected officials.

Currently, the Mayor is Co-Chief Executive Officer and Co-President of Cambridge Diagnostic Products, Inc. Mayor Gold holds a Bachelor's Degree in History from Oakland University.

Mayor Gold, a Michigan native, has been a longtime Coral Springs resident since 1978. He and his wife, Janet, have two children, Lauren and Michael and his wife Susana and Dylan, the Gordon Setter.
