The Queen Palm
is originally from South America but has adapted readily to Florida.
This palm is one of the most common landscape palms found in South
Florida. It is moderately tolerant of drought conditions and needs
supplemental irrigation during prolonged dty spells. Manganese deficiency
is a common problem with Queen Palms leading to "frizzletop"
(see photo below). This problem can be all the more pronounced in
alkaline soils such as those found in Coral Springs.
