This large shade tree is ideal for landscaping or street and median planting. It can be grown on any site that is not too wet. Care has to be taken to properly prune these trees early on because they have a tendency to form several co-dominant trunks thereby making this otherwise very stable tree more susceptible to wind damage.
The large pear shaped and stalked seed pod is a very prominent feature of this tree. The pods remain on the tree and split open releasing winged seed for dispersal.
