Even though the Dawrf Poinciana and the Royal Poinciana share some common characteristics such as feathery compund leaves, bright orange-red flowers and long seed pods the two are not related. The Dwarf Poinciana originated in Southeast Asia while the Royal Poinciana came from the african island of Madagascar.
