EARLEAF ACACCIA
(Acaccia auriculiformis)

NON - NATIVE NUISANCE TREE

The Earleaf Acacia gets its common name from the twisted seedpod, which vaguely resembles an ear. This tree is commonly found growing in many intact ecosystems. It does well in areas with nutrient poor soils that burn occasionally and are sometimes subjected to drought conditions. These features apply to numerous South Florida ecosystems. The wood of this tree is very brittle and branches frequently break off during moderate to strong windstorms.
