Title: Coral Springs Craft Guild Monthly Meeting

Description: Don Dietz, well-known silversmith, will demonstrate the art of creating jewelry at the Coral Springs Craft Guild’s July meeting. Don studied gemstone cutting, silver/gold smithing and fabrication techniques in Taipei, Taiwan in the early 1970s. Upon returning to the United States, he studied faceting, casting, advanced smith, jewelry design and gem recognition at the Patuxent Lapidary Guild of Maryland. After retirement from the Federal Government in 1994 and a move to South Florida, Don joined the Florida Gold Coast Gem and Mineral Society where he has been Vice President for the past 9 years. Don has taught cabochon cutting, art jewelry, fabrication and lost wax casting at the Boca Raton Museum of Art – The Art School. He has published in both the Lapidary Journal and Art Jewelry Magazine and has lectured extensively on jewelry and the lapidary arts. Don has operated the Charles Belle Studio for the past 25 years, specializing in commission jewelry, repairs, and stone cutting as well as creating unique jewelry with Florida’s Black Coral.
