Description: Local ceramic artist, Jan Kolenda, will teach the fine art of creating ceramic relief tiles through both public and school programs starting in January at the Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital in Sportsplex Park in Coral Springs (Sample Rd & Sawgrass Expressway).
Inspired by the beautiful and unique environment of South Florida, the artist combines her love of working with clay and teaching about nature in the creation of large scale ceramic relief murals. During each one hour class, Ms. Kolenda will share her inspiration and instruct participates in the creation of their own nature inspired 6” x 6” clay relief tile. After firing by the artist, each tile can be taken home by the participants as an expression of their nature experience.
Public programs will be offered on January 4, 11, & 18 at 10am, January 25 at 1pm and March 24 at 10am. School field trips will be offered February 10, 11 &12, March 31, and April 1, 2, 3& 4 at 10am. Classes are open to all ages (some restrictions apply) and are $10 per participate. Registration and payment must be made in advance. There is a maximum of 30 participates per class.
