Coral Springs will host its first 2009 Business Plan workshop Tuesday, July 1, 2008, starting at 4 pm in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, 9551 W. Sample Road. The workshop will also be televised on CityTV channel 25 on Advanced Cable Communications.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the financial strategy proposed by the City Manager to address the challenges of property tax reform, economic recession and inflation. The workshop will also highlight next fiscal year's initiatives and capital projects, which are consistent with customer needs and expectations, as well as the City's Strategic Plan.
This workshop is an important part of the City’s budget process because it gives the City Commission the opportunity to discuss potential changes in service levels and address long-term needs of the City in relation to emerging issues identified earlier in the strategic planning process. A second Business Plan workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, July 22 at 5 pm in the West Wing Conference Room at City Hall.
In September, the City will have two public budget hearings, which are tentatively scheduled for September 12 and 16 at 5:15 pm. The adopted millage and assessment rates will be adopted at this time.
