January 16, 2007: City proclaims February as Black History Month
The City Commission proclaimed the month of February as "Black History Month" in Coral Springs in recognition of the extraordinary contributions that African Americans have made to our community and the nation. The City of Coral Springs believes strongly in having strength in diversity and African Americans have made valuable and lasting contributions to Broward County and our City. “Black History Month” is a time for all Americans to remember the teachings of those who helped build our nation, took a stance against prejudice and advanced because of civil rights. During the month of February, the City encourages residents to reflect on past successes and challenges of African Americans and look to the future to continue to improve society so that we may live up to the ideals of freedom, equality, and justice.
