A group of future tennis stars, training out of The Tennis Center Of Coral Springs, have had some tremendous results recently. Training at The Tennis Center’s Junior Tennis Academy, under the tutelage of USPTA Professional Scott Greenwald, the group came away from the Plantation Grand Prix Rookie Tournament with lots of hardware. Carter Reynolds, competing in the 12 and under singles division, won 4 consecutive matches to take the title. Reynolds unseeded and playing up a division, did not lose a set in taking the title. Mike Duffner captured the boys 14 and under singles division, winning the finals 6-1, 5-7, 10-7 (super tiebreaker). Duffner defeated Scott Koretsky, the #1 seat and also a Tennis Center student in the semifinals. Meshak Cole lost a tough semifinal match 7-6, 2-6, 11-9. The boys 16 and under division was taken by Mike Koretsky in a tough 3 set match, winning the final 2-6, 6-4, 10-1 (super tiebreaker). Mike beat fellow Tennis Center Student Chris Duffner in the quarterfinals 6-7, 6-4, 10-8. Kevin Sierra, who lost in the first round, came back to win 3 matches in the consolation draw to win that division. Another top student, Nathalie Abenzo was away competing at the High School State Championships. Nathalie, a freshman at St. Thomas, played #2 doubles, winning all of her matches and helping St. Thomas capture the 3A State Championship. “It was a banner week for many of our students and we are looking forward to continued great results from these and our other competitors,” Center Academy Director Scott Greenwald said.
