Shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Thursday July 26, 2007, the Coral Springs Fire Department was called to the scene for smoke coming out of an apartment at 12186 W Sample Rd. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming out of a third floor apartment. Fire crews advanced hoses inside, and put the fire out within a few minutes. One man was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation. The mans dog, who had been inside for about 20 minutes during the fire, was rescued by firefighters and brought to a safe area. The dog was given oxygen and water in an attempt to prevent further injury. The man and his dog are in good condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
