February 13, 2009: City hosts Solar Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics and Coach Lohberg

The City of Coral Springs, Coral Springs Police Department and the Broward’s Sheriff’s Office are sponsoring a Solar Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 21 at 10 a.m. at Mullins Park Pool.

A minimum $25 pledge is required to plunge. Despite Florida’s tropical climate, tons of ice will be added to the swimming pool to bring it down to a temperature of 35 degrees. The event will feature music, magic and refreshments. Awards will be given to the individual and team with the highest fundraising, best costume and largest team membership.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Special Olympics and Olympic Swim Coach Michael Lohberg. U.S. Olympic Swimmer Dara Torres will be there to show her support.

For more information, please call 954-914-6953 or visit www.solarpolarplunge.com. The Mullins Park Pool is located at 10000 N.W. 29 St.
