The Coral Springs Building Division has enlisted eight volunteers consisting of local architects, contractors and developers who currently do business with the City for participation in a Building Focus Group, which began in March 2009. The group of volunteers provide the Building Division with input to help improve the way the Division does business, including permitting, plan review and the inspections process.
The focus group has met with staff and have provided recommendations, which the Building Department has already begun to implement.
“We have conducted multiple workshops, surveys, and participated in Slice of the Springs meetings in an effort to receive feedback from our customers,” Development Services Director Larry Staneart said. “The Building Focus group is another great way to stay customer focused and continually improve our services.”
Several process improvements have come from the Focus Group, including the implementation of “Pre-Design Meetings” for Commercial Projects with potential builders to discuss ways to complete their projects on time; expansion of the Project Coordinator Program, which employs a hands-on business friendly customer approach to guide customers through the permitting process; and streamlining of the inspection process to make it easier for contractors.
Commercial Builders planning to build in the City of Coral Springs are encouraged to contact the Building Division and set up a meeting so staff can review the building division requirements and set expectations concerning their project ahead of time. To set up a meeting, please call 954-344-1025.
“We thank our Building Focus Group participants for volunteering their time and sharing their experiences and knowledge to help make it easier for developers, contractors, property owners and professionals to do business in Coral Springs,” Staneart added.
