September 1, 2009: Coral Springs Mayor joins “Building Generations” Neighborhood Coalition

Coral Springs Mayor Scott Brook will become an official member of the Building Generations Neighborhood Coalition at his law office at 1401 N University Drive, Suite 500 in Coral Springs, Florida on September 1, 2009 at 2 p.m.

The Building Generations initiative works with low-income seniors and families in an effort to bring them together to provide access to the building blocks for a good life: education and training that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family, and good health through their retirement.

Non-profit community organization ARC Broward, the City of Coral Springs, and a team of other agencies are building intergenerational neighborhood coalitions in the Northeast and Town Center sections of Coral Springs.

“I am honored to join the Building Generations neighborhood coalition,” Mayor Brook said. “Building Generations is a promising initiative that has the potential to bring a level of certainty and opportunity into the lives of many families that call Coral Springs their home.”

On June 6, 2009, the Building Generations initiative held its first community wide event—a free Financial Literacy Fair for Coral Springs residents. The event provided quality financial information and education in a fun environment and increased awareness of financial issues and supportive services for Coral Springs residents.

Administered by ARC Broward, Building Generations is a major impact initiative of the United Way of Broward County. Other community partners of the Building Generations initiative include The City of Coral Springs, CareSource, FLIPANY, Minority Development and Empowerment, Inc., RESBEAT, Senior Volunteer Services and Broward County.
