The City is hosting its annual memorial to honor those who lost their lives during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.
This year, the ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. on Friday, September 11 at the memorial outside the Northwest Regional Library, 3151 N. University Drive. The event, originally during the evening hours, was moved to the morning to be closer to the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center.
At 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane hit the north tower, the City’s entire Police and Fire Department dispatch system will have a moment of silence”. There also will be a wreath laying at the monument followed by a brief tribute by the City’s police and fire chiefs.
The Police, Fire and JP Taravella’s ROTC Honor Guards, along with the Coral Springs Firefighters Pipes and Drums Corps will perform. The J.P. Taravella and Coral Springs Charter School High School bands are also scheduled to perform.
Current military members and veterans are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Orlando at 954-344-1147 or e-mail email@example.com.
