05-12-2005 Fire Department Honored with Numerous Awards

Lieutenant Jan Tripician was honored with the prestigious "Dave Foster Paramedic of the Year" award.  Lieutenant "Trip" was given this award for his many dedicated years of service to the Department as well as the residents of the city.  Lieutenant Tripician was nominated by his peers for his numerous involvements such as the Swat Medic Program, Medical Supply Coordinator, and most recently his large involvement in the city's EMT Academy.

Driver Engineer Michael Moser was honored with the "EMT of the Year" award by the Broward Fire Chiefs Association.  Mike was honored for his work with the CSFD Explorer Program, Honor Guard Team Commander, and as the Departments Public Information Officer.  Mike was also awarded for his part in the rescue of a man trapped beneath a water filled trench in Parkland last year.

Also honored were members of the CSFD ALS Competition Team.  The ALS Team placed 2nd overall out of 12 teams that competed the day before.  The ALS Team was faced with a scenario that was intense to say the least.  An impaled patient, burnt forestry firefighter, and snake bites all were assessed and "fixed up" by the ALS Team.
