05-25-2005 Firefighters Save Dog from Burning Parkland Home

Coral Springs Firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire at 5889 NW 74th Street in Parkland shortly after 3pm this afternoon.  Upon their arrival they discovered heavy smoke and fire in a bedroom of the home.  Firefighters discovered a family pet in the hallway using a thermal imaging camera.  Firefighters pulled the dog out to safety and began to revive it.  Crews performed mouth-to-mouth CPR on the dog, intubated the animal, and gave it an IV to give fluids.  The dog was transported to the Wiles Road Animal Hospital where Vets worked to stabilize the dog.  The dog is expected to make a full recovery.

The fire was contained to a bedroom, causing severe damage inside. The family is expected to stay with relatives because of smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
