Coral Springs firefighters are hosting a Physical Agility Combat Challenge Course that will benefit a Coral Springs resident in need of surgery. Brieanna Yowell, a thirteen-year-old student is in need of a double lung transplant due to complications from cystic fibrosis. Brieanna is on a waiting list to receive the lungs she needs. As soon as members of the Coral Springs Fire Department and Coral Springs Fire Academy were made aware of this situation, they knew immediately what to do. They know how to help people better than anyone, and this is no exception. Our department will be competing against other area firefighters as well as competing against shifts to raise money for Brieanna. The Firefighter Combat Challenge Relay is a world-renowned event that showcases the tasks that firefighters have to perform in order to become certified firefighters. This relay simulates real-life firefighting skills, set to a fun yet challenging obstacle course. This fund-raiser is expected to raise over two thousand dollars towards Brieanna’s medical expenses. This event is sure to make for a fun filled and worthwhile day. The South Florida media is invited to attend. Brieanna’s family is scheduled to be in attendance. The event will be held at Coral Springs Fire Station 71, 11800 NW 41st Street, Coral Springs. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on April 27th, 2008 and continue throughout the afternoon.
