Coral Springs Police arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted armed kidnapping of an 11-year-old female.
Timothy Christian Schlafer, 18, of Coral Springs was arrested early this morning after he attempted to kidnap an 11-year-old victim as she was sleeping.
Schlafer forced entry into a residence located at the 8700 block of NW 40th Street and removed the victim from her bed as she was sleeping. Schlafer began to carry the victim down the stairs toward the front door when the victim’s grandmother woke up. The victim’s grandmother yelled at Schlafer to put down her granddaughter at which time Schlafer put the victim down and ran out the front door.
Coral Springs Police apprehended the suspect a short time later on an abandoned golf course. Neither the grandmother nor her granddaughter was injured.
Schlafer was arrested and charged with Armed Kidnapping Child Under 13 yoa and Armed Burglary. Schlafer was transported to Broward County Main Jail.
