October 14, 2008: City’s Street Tree Subsidy Program recognized

The Florida Chapter International Society of Arboriculture, the Florida Urban Forestry Council and the Florida Division of Forestry recently recognized the City of Coral Springs’ Street Tree Subsidy Program as an Outstanding Public Education Program.  The City was awarded for teaching and motivating the public on the importance of trees and the value of urban forestry activities within the community and the state.

After Hurricane Wilma plowed through South Florida and reduced our City’s tree canopy by about one third, the City Commission approved this program to subsidize residents who replant code required street trees in the public right-of-way.
