Celebrating 14 years in Coral Springs, the Giving Tree project brings together community members to collect and distribute toys, nonperishable food and cash to those less-fortunate families in our community. The official kick-off ceremony will be Friday, November 21 at 6:30 p.m. near City Hall in the Mall, 9293 W. Atlantic Blvd.
This year’s kick-off also will serve as the official launch of Buy Coral Springs, an initiative to support our local businesses. Buy Coral Springs is a partnership between the City and Coral Springs Chamber of Commerce to keep local dollars in local businesses that are the heart and core of our community. The Giving Tree serves as a reminder for everyone to buy in the community and for the community. Mayor Scott Brook will speak more about this project at the Giving Tree launch November 21.
The Giving Tree is co-sponsored by City Hall in the Mall, Turtle Creek Wal-Mart and Advanced Cable Communications. Donations of food, toys and money will be accepted at City Hall in the Mall through December 15. Items Wal-Mart donated were shaped into the well-known tree centerpiece.
“The tree is a reminder that the holidays are a wonderful time to share with those who are less fortunate,” said Marie Giacalone, senior community relations coordinator at City Hall in the Mall.
