April 2, 2008: City proclaims April 19, 2007 as Arbor Day

The City Commission proclaimed April 19, 2008 as Arbor Day. This is a great time to plant trees for the many benefits they provide, including the reduction of topsoil erosion, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce oxygen, provide wood for our homes, a habitat for wildlife, and a renewable source of paper. Trees also help increase property values, enhance economic vitality and beautify our community.

To celebrate Arbor Day, the City will be hosting EarthFest on Saturday, April 19 at Sandy Ridge Sanctuary from 9 AM to 1 PM. EarthFest features wildlife exhibits, guided tours, plant giveaways to Coral Springs residents and refreshments. Sandy Ridge Sanctuary is located east of University Drive between Sample and Wiles Roads at 8501 NW 40 Street. For more information, call 954-344-1117.
