The City Commission proclaimed September 21, 2007 as International Day of Peace here in Coral Springs. Through a resolution, the United Nations established an International Day of Peace in 1981 and made September 21 the permanent date in 2002.
“We can all use some peace, can’t we?” Major Scott J. Brook said.
To recognize International Day of Peace, those in a community are encouraged to promote peace in any appropriate manner, including community service projects, cultural exhibits or performances, or sharing the universal wish “May peace prevail on earth.”
The City’s Multi-Cultural Advisory Committee, along with non-profit group One Planet United, is planning a Peace Day celebration at 7:35 AM Friday at the International Peace Garden outside the Coral Springs Center for the Arts, 2855 Coral Springs Drive. Refreshments will be provided.
