The City Commission recognized the Coral Springs Chargers Tackle Football Club for winning the 2007 State Champions.
Head Coach Scott Haire has been a coach for 15 years in Coral Springs. “We didn’t have a lot of great athletes, but we had a bunch of kids that came together as a team,” he said. “We came up against bigger kids, but they never gave up.”
The Chargers team, which are of players ages 12 through 14, includes Jeremy Sullivan, Fabian Moreau, Sam Weinberg, Marshall Morgan, Chase Tyrrell, Alex Teigen, Matthew Ferraro, Ryan Selimos, Chris Scoppettone, Austin Garbutt, Jaquan Turner, Larry Andrews, Joshua Groves, Gianni Vielot, Craig Herbst, Lorenzo Jerome, Chase Caccamo, Nick Klaybor, Robert Valente, Cody Schooley, Jonathan Sofianos, Blake Dale, Devon Quance, Justin Sadler, Colin Noel, Brandon Rodgers, Naeem Walker, Julian Malka, Samuel Senner, Roderick Smith, Jeff Kaplan, Ryan Ingber, and Craig Gaver. Assistant coaches John Fitzgerald, Bob Cole, Ken Baker, Tod Tyrrell and team president Phil Margets were also recognized.
“Congratulations on a great job, great heart and great teamwork,” Mayor Brook said.
