February 22, 2008: City hosts building workshops

The Building Department has launched a series of workshops regarding the Florida Building Code and permitting requirements as part of a pilot program.

These workshops will help minimize rejections in plan review and application/plan submittal requirements.

All Coral Springs residents, architects, contractors and support staff are welcome to attend. Each workshop will include discussions of codes, permit submission requirements, plan review, and inspection procedures. Administrative staff, plan reviewers, inspectors and permitting staff will be available to answer specific questions posed by attendees.

The first workshop, covering door & window replacement was very successful.  The second workshop, scheduled for Tuesday, March 18, 2008 will discuss screen enclosures, pools and fences.

Additional workshops are scheduled as follows:
 June 17: Roofs
 September 16, 2008: Expired Permits

The workshops on March 18 and September 16 will be held in the Coral Springs Gymnasium, located at 2501 Coral Springs Drive.  The workshop scheduled for June 17 workshop will be held at the Northwest Regional Library, located at 3151 North University Drive, from 9 to 11 AM.

Space is limited; anyone interested in attending any of the workshops can sign up by e-mailing broberts@coralsprings.org or by calling 954-344-1199 or 954-344-1041.  When registering, make sure to include your name, contact phone number, number of people attending and business name if applicable.
