The City Commission proclaimed the week of March 30 as Children’s Week in Coral Springs.
The 14th Annual Children’s Week “Celebrating Parents and Children” brings thousands of parents, children, professionals, community leaders and concerned citizens together to share valuable knowledge and information about children's issues across the state. The purpose of Children's Week is to create a shared vision of the State of Florida's commitment to its children and families and to engage a long-term process to develop and implement strategies to promote optimal health, education and care.
“When you think about Coral Springs, you think of children, you think of happiness, you think about families,” Mayor Scott J. Brook said. “That’s why this is special for us to help recognize this week as Children’s Week.”
Deborah David accepted the proclamation on behalf of Early Learning Coalition of Broward County, Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting voluntary pre-kindergarten for County children.
David explained that one of the Coalition’s major projects for Children’s Week was collecting artwork from students in all Broward County schools and hanging it in the state capitol rotunda for the legislators to see before making important education policy decisions.
“We’re very happy to have you on board with us this year,” David told City staff and commissioners. “On behalf of the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County and all the children of Broward County, I’d like to thank the City of City of Coral Springs for supporting Children’s Week.”
