Several US Navy personnel, assigned as Firefighters aboard the USS San Antonio, will be special guests at the Coral Springs Fire Academy for a “live burn” drill. The Navy personnel will take part in a rigorous “flashover” training program tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m. The training evolution will start with classroom training that will discuss the basics of fire behavior and flashover awareness. The course will then take the Navy personnel into a special simulator that will give them up close and personal contact with live fire. The fire simulator allows personnel to be inside a closed container where fire rolls over the heads of the participants and allows for close heat and flame contact . The participants will be under close supervision by Coral Springs Fire Academy Instructors.
