The City Commission proclaimed October 2007 as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the City of Coral Springs. The proclamation was presented to Yvonne Cardoves, who is our Community Representative from the American Cancer Society.
“Last year, your City and your volunteers raised $156,000 in Relay for Life and we are so thankful,” Cardoves said.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among American women. During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we renew our commitment to fighting this disease, raising awareness, and supporting those affected by breast cancer.
“Breast cancer is very dear to my heart as my sister is a two-time breast cancer survivor and we founded the Coral Springs Breast Cancer Foundation for woman who can’t afford insurance,” Commissioner Vince Boccard said. “As we all know, early detection is the best defense against breast cancer.”
