The City’s Fourth Annual April Pool’s Day is planned for Sunday, April 15 at Coral Springs Medical Center, located at 3000 Coral Hills Drive from 12pm-4pm. Simultaneously, the hospital will also be celebrating its 20th birthday on this day. Coral Springs Medical Center's 20th Birthday Bash will feature health screenings, a life-size operation game, bounce house, giant fair slide, craft fair, food and more--all FREE to the community. In addition, the April Pool’s Drowning Prevention obstacle course will focus on water safety demonstrations--all provided by volunteers from the Coral Springs Medical Center and the Coral Springs Fire Department. Participants will learn about various safety and flotation devices and home aquatic safety. Prize goody bags will be awarded to all participants. The April Pools Day component of the event is sponsored by the Pediatric Drowning Prevention Task Force, which was formed in January 2003 in an effort to educate the public about water safety and to reduce the number of drowning accidents in Coral Springs. The Task Force was a collaborative effort of the Coral Springs Medical Center, the Coral Springs Fire Department, The City of Coral Springs and the Broward County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Nothing substitutes for adequate adult supervision at all times while children are near water. This event will assist parents and caregivers of children in setting up the proper safety parameters to prevent childhood drownings.
