The Coral Springs Gymnasium will be hosting children’s karate classes this summer. Children ages 5 to 18 will learn the secret self-defense techniques of the Okinawan people. Karate builds a strong body by practicing the techniques though repetition. Students will also learn how to carry themselves with confidence and to defend themselves in the event they are attacked, so as to not fall victims. Beginner classes are set for Mondays from 6:45 to 7:30 PM and Thursdays from 7 to 7:45 PM, starting July 9 through August 2. A second session is also available from August 6 through August 30. Advanced classes are also offered during the same dates, Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Cost is $45 for four weeks sessions. Uniforms are available for purchase for $30 through the instructor. All classes are taught by Renshi Scott Ashley, who has a sixth degree black belt and is a former World Kickboxing Champion.
