August 22, 2007: City launches radio on 1670 AM

The City of Coral Springs has recently launched CityRadio, Coral Springs’ Emergency and Community Radio Station on WQFL543 1670 AM.  The primary purpose of this radio station will be to provide information to residents in the event there is an emergency.  When there is not an emergency, the station will offer community information about the City, including upcoming events and other helpful information provided by City Departments.

In an emergency situation, the Coral Springs Fire and Police Departments will provide breaking news, information and instruction on 1670 AM.  This station will also broadcast emergency weather information from the national weather service.

In the event of a major power blackout or other large-scale situation, Coral Springs and Parkland residents are encouraged to tune to this radio station for important information.

“We are pleased to be launching CityRadio,” Mayor Brook stated.  “I urge all residents to listen to 1670 AM before, during and after an emergency and on a regular basis to receive important community information.”
