The Broward County Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, at 2 PM, in the Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Ave., Room 422, Fort Lauderdale, to receive public comments on proposed bus service changes effective Sunday, January 13, 2008.
The proposed changes are due to a request from the Coral Square Mall management that Broward County Transit (BCT) reduce its presence of bus service on the mall property. As a result, the proposed service changes will remove the fixed-route service from the mall property. This change will not impact the Community Bus Service into the mall.
The proposed service changes, effective Sunday, January 13, 2008, are on routes 2, 42, 62, 83 and 88 on weekdays and weekends, and result in new service to northwest Coral Springs, additional and extended trips, adjusted service frequency on departure and arrival times, and new time points.
The City’s Community Bus Service is free within Coral Springs, and runs seven days a week. This service could be used in conjunction with connections to Broward County Transit Routes 2, 34, 62, 83 and 88. Riders making the connection with BCT will need to pay the appropriate fares.
The City’s Community Bus has two routes. The Blue route circles the south end and includes stops at the City Gymnasium, Coral Square Mall and Coral Springs Medical Center. Both the green and blue routes make stops on the hour at the northeast corner of the Sample Road and University Drive intersection, allowing riders to change buses. It takes approximately an hour to make one loop, but please keep in mind that traffic conditions may cause the bus to arrive slightly early or late.
