September 22, 2008: U.S. Congress Candidates will debate on October 6

The public is encouraged to attend an upcoming Candidates Forum to hear Robert Wexler, Edward Lynch, Ben Graber, Ron Klein and Allen West engage in a discussion at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts on Monday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m.  This free event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Broward and Palm Beach County, and the City of Coral Springs Customer-Involved Government Committee.

Wexler has served as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives since 1997, representing Florida's 19th congressional district. The district includes most of eastern Palm Beach County, as well as northern Broward County. Wexler is being challenged for his 19th congressional district seat by Republican candidate Lynch, who is a businessman in the construction industry.  Graber, running as a candidate for Congress with no party affiliation, is also challenging Wexler’s seat. Graber is a former Broward County Commissioner and state House Representative.

Congressional District 22 covers a coastal strip running from Fort Lauderdale Airport north to the Martin County line and swells westward at places to take in part of Parkland, Coral Springs, Plantation and Davie. Klein is the incumbent Congressman in District 22, and is running for re-election.  He previously served in the Florida Senate and in the state House of Representatives.  He is being challenged by Republican West, who served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
