Shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2006 Coral Springs Fire Department crews responded to a call of a partial ceiling collapse at the Ramblewood East Condominiums, 4121 NW 88th Avenue. Upon their arrival, crews discovered multiple apartments had moderate water damage and internal ceiling collapses. The Coral Springs Building Department deemed the building unsafe and ordered an evacuation. Fire department personnel assisted in gathering belongings and escorting residents to the clubhouse for Red Cross assistance. It was apparent that roof construction or repair was underway prior to this incident. A representative from the roofing company advised the fire department he would assist in placing residents in a hotel for the night. It is unclear what actually caused the roof to leak. In total, fifteen units were declared unsafe and approximately twenty to thirty residents displaced. The building officials will conduct a follow up inspection the morning.
