The City of Coral Springs announced planned traffic improvements for the intersection of Sample Road and Terrapin Lane. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has approved plans for improvement of several intersections along Sample Road, including Terrapin Lane.
Construction of permanent median restrictions will begin by early February 2009 as part of FDOT’s Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation project. In the meantime, to increase safety and reduce potential traffic incidents, the City and FDOT will install temporary traffic barriers in mid-January 2009.
Residents should be aware of the proposed improvements that will take effect with the installation of the temporary traffic barriers:
· No left turn onto Terrapin Lane into the Publix shopping center for vehicles traveling westbound on Sample Road.
· No left turn onto Sample Road westbound from the south side of Terrapin Lane.
· No left turn onto Sample Road eastbound from the north side of Terrapin Lane.
· No through traffic across Sample Road from either the north or south sides of Terrapin Lane.
Construction of the permanent median restrictions will take about eight months to complete (see attached pdf of the proposed rendering). Updates will be posted as they become available on the City’s web site at coralsprings.org.
