September, 18 2009 :Juvenile Stabbed During Altercation
 
     

Coral Springs police are investigating a stabbing that occurred approximately 4:33pm at the 10100 block of NW 17 Street.

Elijah Schwartz, 13, of Coral Springs suffered at least one stab wound with a kitchen knife to the upper back as result of an altercation he had with Zachary Mitchell, 12, also of Coral Springs.  Mitchell also suffered a stab wound to the stomach that appears to be self-inflicted according to witness information.

Mitchell and Schwartz both attend Ramblwood Middle School where they have been having disputes during the past week.

Schwartz was air lifted to Broward General Medical Center where he is currently undergoing surgery to remove the knife.  Mitchell was transported by Coral Springs Fire Department also to Broward General Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.

  Criminal charges are pending due to ongoing investigation.
