October 26, 2009: 2009 US Youth Soccer Olympic Development coming to Coral Springs this Thanksgiving

The annual US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Girls Thanksgiving Interregional is scheduled to be at the North Community Park, Cypress Park and Coral Glades High School at Sportsplex in Coral Springs, Florida. Teams will arrive on November 21, for two days of training, with competition play beginning on the November 23 and running through Friday, November 27, 2009.

Youth from the nation’s elite player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of U.S. Soccer National Team Staff and over 125 leading collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to National Teams and collegiate programs.

US Youth Soccer ODP Girls will feature Under-14 through Under-16 age groups during the Thanksgiving Interregional. The U.S. Under-15 Girls National Team and a Costa Rica Girls National Team will train and compete against US Youth Soccer ODP during the Thanksgiving Interregional.

Rosters for the US Youth Soccer ODP Girls Thanksgiving Interregional will be released on November 9, 2009.

US Youth Soccer ODP divides the United States into four regions.  Florida is in Region III, which consists of a total of 11 states.  Tina Shakes from Coral Springs, Donish Cole and Sidney Parodie from Parkland, who all play competitive soccer with the local Renegades Soccer Club, have been selected as players for Region III.

"US Youth Soccer ODP is valuable because all four regions coordinate with the states to seek out some of the best players in the country," said Mike Dickey, U.S. Under-15 Girls National Team head coach. "This kind of organization helps make sure that as many talented players as possible are identified and can be seen by the national team coaches.”

Residents are invited to watch the games as these young girls fight for their spot on the National Team. For more information or for a list of scheduled games, visit www.usyouthsoccer.org.
