A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the new Fire Station 80 is set for Friday, February 26 at 5 p.m.
Construction began in January 2009 and was completed on schedule and under budget. The new Fire Station 80 is an official LEED-Certified Green Building able to house not only firefighters and a battalion chief but an aerial truck, rescue units, the air support unit and reserve apparatus.
“This new fire station will help us provide even faster response times and enhance customer service,” Fire Chief Mark Curran said. “We look forward to having the community be part of this opening ceremony.”
Governor Charlie Crist is scheduled to attend, as well as other notable dignitaries. Families with children are encouraged to attend as an open house will follow the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The station is located at 2825 Coral Springs Drive, just north of Royal Palm Blvd.
