Mayor Scott Brook was appointed to the National League of Cities’ (NLC) 2010 CityFutures Panel on Community and Regional Development. The Panel identifies challenges to successful regional governance, explores effective local solutions, supports research and provides guidance and recommendations to city officials.
In 2010, the Community and Regional Development Panel will provide leadership on the topics of economic development and sustainability. The Panel is part of the CityFutures Program, which examines how significant economic and demographic changes transform the work of municipal governments. Other CityFutures Panels include Public Finance and Democratic Governance.
“I am honored to contribute to Community Development progress in our Nation through this appointment and look forward to sharing innovative solutions to the challenges we face here,” Brook said.
The 2010 chair of the Community and Regional Development Panel is Lakewood, Colo., Council Member Ed Peterson. Working as this year’s vice chairs are Coral Springs, Fla., Mayor Scott Brook and Oak Park Heights, Minn., Councilmember Mary McComber.
