June 28, 2010: Residents can help by adopting a street

Residents can help keep our streets clean by volunteering in the Adopt-a-Street program. By assuming responsibility for a street in Coral Springs, the volunteer will be responsible for reviewing the area and removing litter four times a year for two years.

Adopt-A-Street is a collaboration among Broward County, participating cities and their residents. Since the program began in 1995, more than 18,000 volunteers from 19 cities have removed over 200,000 pounds of litter from their adopted streets.

The County provides organizational help, cleanup supplies, free disposal, and Adopt-A-Street signs with your group's name displayed. To sign up, call Broward County at 954-474-1835 or e-mail litterprevention@broward.org.
