July 30, 2010: Residents encouraged to donate school supplies for needy
 

Broward Public Schools begin August 23 and the City of Coral Springs wants to help the economically disadvantaged children in our community. Donations of school supplies can be dropped off at Volunteer Services, 10000 N.W. 29 Street, by Tuesday, August 17. Items collected will be distributed to Coral Springs students.

Acceptable items include: pens, pencils, crayons, double pocket folders, composition books, backpacks, tissues, hand sanitizer, rulers, scissors, spiral notebooks, glue sticks, etc.

As a reminder, Florida Sales Tax Holiday is August 13 through 15, 2010. During the sales tax holiday, Floridians will not pay sales tax on books, clothing and footwear that cost $50 or less, as well as school supplies that cost $10 or less.
