In a 10-day period Officer Murray used superior observation and investigative skills to locate and arrest multiple felony suspects based on BOLOS from fellow department members on three separate occasions. On January 2, 2010 reacting to a BOLO for a vehicle used in several local Gym burglaries Officer Murray arrested two suspects, resulting in a felony arrest and the clearing of multiple burglaries. On January 6, 2010, while on routine patrol Officer Murray observed a suspicious vehicle in an area shopping center. He noticed that the vehicle matched the description given earlier for vehicle burglary suspects. As he moved in, one of the suspects fled on foot. Murray proceeded to make contact with the two other suspects. With the assistance of Detectives, confessions were obtained from the pair on the threesome’s intent to commit burglaries as well as admission to previous burglaries within the area. The third suspect was located and owner property was recovered. On January 12, 2010, Officer Murray observed a Gray Chevy Tahoe matching the description of suspects that had just committed a theft at a local cell phone store. He initiated a stop and made contact with the suspects. A show-up was conducted in which both suspects were positively identified as having committed the theft. Further investigation revealed felony narcotics obtained in an apparent ‘doctor shopping’ scheme. In a 10-day period Officer Murray located SEVEN suspects based on BOLOS issued by other officers. His aggressive, proactive patrolling cleared numerous cases and recovered a significant amount of stolen property. It is for these reasons Officer Murray is being awarded the Exceptional Police Initiative Commendation.
